This course is a mandatory WSH training course for workers in general trade operating in the shipbuilding and ship repairing work environment.
The aim of the course is to provide learners with the knowledge and skills to recognize the safety hazards at shipyard work, know the preventive measures to be adopted, and the importance of observing safety signs and safe work procedures operating in the shipbuilding and ship repairing work environment.
- Have a basic knowledge of the relevant sector of work
- Be able to listen and speak English at a proficiency level equivalent to the Employability Skills (ES) level 3
- Be able to read and write English at a proficiency level equivalent to ES level 3
- Be able to manipulate numbers at a proficiency level equivalent to ES level 3
- Be medically fit to work at height
- 7 hours of classroom training
- 1 hour of assessment including written assessment
- Understand legal obligations in workplace safety and health
- Identify hazards in a shipyard
- Recognise the different types of industrial safety signs
- Understand the application process for safety permit prior to hot work.
- Don personal protective equipment
- Apply safety precautions when working with different hazards
- Respond to fire and emergency

The learner must achieve at least a 60% pass rate for the written assessment and 100% for the practical assessment in order to be issued with the Safety Pass awarded by UBTS ACADEMY PTE. LTD. and WSQ Statement of Attainment (SOA) by SkillsFuture Singapore.
Attendance Requirements: 100% for classroom and practical assessment sessions.
All workers in general trade operating in the shipbuilding and ship repairing work environment.
