The objective of this course is to equip professionals in the logistics and manufacturing sectors with the knowledge, analytical skills, and practical tools required to lead effective carbon footprint management initiatives. Participants will learn to interpret and apply international environmental standards, conduct carbon footprint analyses to identify and prioritise ‘hot spots,’ and design actionable reduction strategies supported by robust planning and cost-benefit evaluation. By the end of the course, learners will be able to integrate sustainability into core operations, ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks, and drive impactful carbon reduction efforts that contribute to Singapore’s Green Plan 2030 and the nation’s net-zero ambition.

Learners are assumed to possess a minimum of three GCE ‘O’ Level passes, including English, or an equivalent proficiency such as Workplace Literacy (WPL) Level 5 (average of Reading, Listening, Speaking, and Writing scores). Participants who do not meet these assumed skills and knowledge requirements may still register for the course; however, they may find it challenging to fully engage with and complete the learning activities.

8 Hours

The course is divided into three Learning Unit, each targeting essential aspects of carbon footprint management:

  1. Environmental Standards and Management Systems

This learning unit focuses on enabling participants to explain the fundamentals of ISO 14001, ISO 14064, and Environmental Management Systems (EMS), including how to identify and analyse carbon footprint ‘hot spots’ within organisational operations in accordance with these standards.

  1. Carbon Footprint Analysis and Technology

This learning unit guides participants in identifying carbon ‘hot spots,’ projecting reduction potentials, and selecting feasible mitigation technologies. By integrating these elements, participants will synthesise a prioritised set of carbon footprint reduction initiatives aligned with organisational requirements.

  1. Carbon Footprint Planning and Implementation

This learning unit focuses on guiding participants to create comprehensive carbon footprint reduction plans, including cost-benefit analyses, initiative prioritisation, and action plans, by leveraging final road mapping exercises and employing effective tools and techniques.

This course is designed for professionals in the logistics and manufacturing sectors who are directly or indirectly involved in sustainability, operations, or compliance. It is particularly relevant for:

  • Logistics and supply chain managers seeking to integrate carbon reduction strategies into daily operations.
  • Sustainability officers and environmental managers responsible for aligning organisational practices with Singapore’s Green Plan 2030 and net-zero targets.
  • Operations, facility, and warehouse managers looking to identify and address carbon ‘hot spots’ in energy and material usage.
  • Compliance and quality assurance professionals who need to understand and apply international standards such as ISO 14001 and ISO 14064.
  • Professionals from related industries (electronics, aerospace, healthcare, etc.) whose operations depend on logistics and are increasingly expected to meet stringent environmental requirements.

The course is also suitable for individuals aspiring to build competencies in carbon footprint management, even if they are new to sustainability practices, as long as they have the foundational literacy and professional experience to engage with applied learning.

The course adopts an interactive and practice-oriented approach to ensure participants gain both conceptual understanding and practical application skills. Key methodologies include:

  • Facilitator-led Presentations – Core concepts, frameworks, and industry standards (such as ISO 14001 and ISO 14064) will be introduced through structured presentations by the facilitator to provide learners with a strong theoretical foundation.
  • Case Studies – Real-world examples from the logistics and manufacturing sectors will be analysed, enabling participants to contextualise learning and examine effective carbon footprint management practices.
  • Reflection Exercises – Learners will engage in guided reflection to connect course content with their own organisational challenges, reinforcing retention and personalising learning outcomes.
  • Group Discussions – Collaborative dialogue and peer learning will allow participants to share experiences, explore diverse perspectives, and co-develop practical solutions to common challenges.
  • Learner Presentations – Participants will synthesise their learning by presenting proposed carbon reduction strategies, fostering confidence in applying new skills and receiving constructive feedback.

This blended methodology ensures that learners not only acquire knowledge but also develop the critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills necessary to drive sustainability initiatives within their organisations.
