INTRODUCTION:
The Forklift Operator Refresher Course is specifically designed for forklift operators required to fulfill the mandatory refresher training under the Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Act, as stipulated by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM), Singapore. The Forklift Operator Refresher Training Course ensures compliance with the regulatory standards set forth by the Ministry.
The enhanced Forklift Operator Refresher Training course will replace the current refresher training offered by training providers. The enhanced training aims to provide operators with essential skills through both theory and practical training. It covers key safety concepts, industry guidelines, learnings from past incidents and hands-on practice. Participants will learn to recognise and manage potential risks through group discussions which help to equip them for everyday operational challenges.

The curriculum of the enhanced Forklift Operator Refresher Training will consist of:
- 4 hours asynchronous e-learning with assessment (Online learning must be completed within one week)
- 4 hours case study group discussion (In person)
- 4 hours hands on practical session with assessment (In Person)
- Understand Relevant Workplace Safety & Health (WSH) Legislations
Gain knowledge of applicable WSH regulations and Singapore Standards SS573 as they pertain to forklift operation. - Interpret Forklift Load Charts Accurately
Refresh skills in correctly reading and applying the load chart to ensure safe and efficient operation. - Comprehend Forklift Stability Principles
Understand the factors affecting forklift stability and how to mitigate the risks of tipping or instability during operations. - Conduct Pre-Operational and Post-Operational Checks
Learn the correct procedures for inspecting forklift machinery before and after use to ensure operational readiness and safety. - Master Safe Operating Techniques and Requirements
Review essential techniques and practices required for the safe operation of forklifts in various workplace scenarios. - Identify Common Safety Lapses and Their Consequences
Recognize frequent safety violations committed by forklift operators and understand their potential repercussions on workplace safety. - Adhere to Forklift Safety Rules (Do’s and Don’ts)
Reinforce understanding of key safety rules, including best practices and prohibited actions, to maintain a safe working environment.
Trainees must:
- Be able to interpret work instructions and technical information
- Be able to listen, speak, read and write English, and be able to process numbers at a proficiency level equivalent to Workplace Literacy and Numeracy (WPLN) Level 3, or PSLE qualification.
- Possess a valid WSQ Operate Forklift Course Certification
11 training hours + 1 assessment hour (theory and practical)
- Online Theory @ 4 hours via asynchronous e-learning covering 7 modules inclusive of 45 mins of Formative Assessment with 4 MCQs per module.
- 1 day workshop @ 8 hours [ 4 Case Study (4 hours) + Forklift Practical (4 hours inclusive of 15 mins for practical assessment per trainee]
There will be two parts to the training.
Part 1: Online theory will be conducted in Asynchronous mode and must be completed within 1 week. Upon completion of the online learning, participants will be provided with a online certificate as a pre-requisite for in person attendance.
Part 2: In person 8 hour workshop will consist of a 4 hour case study discussion and forklift practical with assessment
Practical assessment: 15 mins, as stated below:
- Inspect forklift machine
- Carry out forklift operations
- Parking (in & out of parking lot)
- Maneuvering (S and L shape) with and without load
- Loading and Unloading
- Reinstate and handover forklift

Nil as Safety card will be provided to participants that have successfully completed the training requirements
The learner must achieve at least a 60% pass rate for the written assessment and 100% for the practical assessment in order to be issued with the Safety Pass awarded by UBTS ACADEMY PTE. LTD.
Attendance Requirements: 100% for classroom and practical assessment sessions.
